Au Pair Spain

Au Pairs that choose to offer their services in Spain will have several options available to them. If they choose to go in the summer, they will have a set of choices that they would not have at another time in the year. They must be nationals of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, or the European Union. As with any Au Pair agreement, they will live with a host family in which they will care for the children and teach the children their language.

For those that choose to become an Au Pair in Spain in the summer, you have the option to stay either one, two, or three months. At any other time of year, your options are restricted to six, nine, or twelve month stays. The advantage of staying for a shorter time period is having the freedom to Au Pair in several areas of the country over the summer.

If you choose a one month stay in one location, when that month is up, you may choose another location within the country to be an Au Pair as well. This will allow your stay in Spain to be more rounded as you will be immersed in the culture from several different perspectives within the time period of your overall stay.

While you are serving as an Au Pair in a host family's home, the things that you will receive are:

· A private room · Phone numbers of other Au Pairs in close proximity · Opportunities to study at a local institution · Pocket money · A family that will treat you as an Au Pair, not a servant

You, as the Au Pair will:

· Take care of the children up to twenty five hours per week · Teach the children your native language

As an Au Pair in Spain, you will have the opportunity to be fully immersed into their culture. As a pseudo member of the host family, you will learn their traditions and expectations. You will be exposed to their language daily and will have the opportunity to learn it as you stay. There are several options as to the length of your stay each with its own benefits and drawbacks. Those that stay longer will be fully immersed in the culture longer and will have the opportunity to get more out of it.

Those that stay a shorter amount of time will have time left over to become an Au Pair elsewhere which will make their experience more full. Whichever option you choose, an Au Pair is a great opportunity to learn about another culture without having to make a major monetary investment. Instead, your investment will be through the time and efforts you spend as the Au Pair and what you may get out of it will be a direct result of what you put in.
