Swedish Au Pair Agency

Sweden Develops The Au Pair Program

The use of the au pair provision in Sweden is the same as it is in many other places, providing Help with children, by taking them to and from school, babysitting, preparing breakfast, snacks and light meals. They can also do light housework, like ironing, dusting, vacuuming, and washing dishes.

The Swedish Au Pair Agency allows them to work more than 20-25 hours per week and without a work permit. Sweden is also a member of the European Union and has been so for many years. They are not required to take English Classes allowing for a freer work schedule. Many Swedish Au Pairs are fluent in English and have been since childhood.

There are only three specialized agencies that use only Swedish Au Pairs and they are the Peek-a Boo Childcare, Swedish Connection, Au Pair Centre.

The Family taking in the young adult have certain responsibilities, too, such as to make the person feel comfortable, treat them like family, help teach them about your culture by letting them experience life with your family. You must also provide an Au pair with room and board and any other needs. The family environment must be safe and happy for all. Register them with your Doctor; let them know what you expect of them, when they are free to do as they want, and a nice welcome card with some spending money.

Most important, though, make sure you give them time to settle in, before expecting them to jump right in. It is a huge adjustment for them and being kind never hurt anyone.

The history of the Au pair can be dated back to the 19th century when English and German girls were sent to France to learn the culture and learn skills. After the First World War, this became even more welcome as a way to bring the World back together again.

The benefits of having and becoming an Au Pair are known by helping someone else and experiencing that we are all created equally. The Swedish government has taken being a caregiver one step further by offering a more relaxed atmosphere to something as serious as childcare. Looking into the right Swedish Au Pair Agency is well worth your time.
